Spud and Spiced Cupcakes

1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. mashed potatoes
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
2 T. flour
3/4 c. nuts

Cream sugar, potatoes, shortening, spices and salt for 4 minutes. Add eggs; blend well. Combine baking soda and buttermilk. Add alternately with flour. Pour into cupcake pan. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
