Between the open plains of North Dakota and the forested lake country of northern Minnesota, lies the Red River Valley – one of the most fertile farming regions in the world. With crops seeded in nutrient-rich black earth and watered by prairie rains instead of irrigation, there’s no better place to grow delicious, hearty potatoes.
Celebrating 75 Years!
The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2021! To help celebrate, we are bringing back Red River Red, a mascot created way back in 1950 to promote Red River Valley Red Potatoes! The color of the 75th medallion symbolizes the golden yellow potatoes that compliment our famous red potatoes today!
NOTHING COMPARES TO RED RIVER VALLEY POTATOES
When is a potato more than a potato? When it comes from the Red River Valley! Potatoes loaded with mouth-watering, comfort-food flavor that comes straight from Mother Nature’s kitchen. Farmers, chefs, grocers and potato lovers agree – once you have a Red River Valley red or yellow potato, you won’t want one from anywhere else!

Unique Soil
Most potatoes are grown in sandy soil, but not in the Red River Valley. Our nutrient rich black loam helps give our potatoes their great flavor. Just one bite and you will taste the difference!

Less Irrigation
Our crops thrive on natural precipitation so there’s no watered-down taste like those that come from heavily irrigated land.

We Know Potatoes
The Red River Valley is the largest producer of red potatoes in the nation. We rank high in yellow potato production too!
